A large and highly decorative Venetian-style overmantel mirror with an arched central plate surrounded by etched floral and foliate mirrored panels. The frame is richly articulated with engraved glass borders, applied mirrored elements and an elaborate crest centred by a stylised floral motif. The broad horizontal proportions give the mirror strong presence over a mantel, console or sideboard. The mirrored elements are complete and generally well preserved, with the combination of etched ornament, layered cresting and reflective surface creating a particularly theatrical decorative effect.

Venetian-style decorative mirrors of this type draw on traditional engraved and applied-glass mirror designs, reinterpreted in mid-to-late twentieth-century production for the luxury decorative market.
