Emerald Bead Necklace
Hand-selected rondelles, re-strung on silk.
A substantial strand of polished rondelles, not matched, the larger beads about a centimetre across. Chosen for daylight translucency, with the internal veils and white veining usual in the material. Under a 10× loupe the beads show the inclusions typical of the stone. Re-threaded on green silk, with wrapped collars, an adjustable knotted closure and a tassel.
Inclusions and treatment in emerald, see GIA, Inclusions in Natural, Synthetic, and Treated Emerald, Gems & Gemology, Winter 2016.
Emeralds are customarily oiled, and these beads should be assumed to be oiled. Weight to follow.
